lgbtqia+ affirming therapy in allen, tx

you deserve a therapist who gets it

Being queer in the South, especially Texas, comes with unique challenges that cisgender, heterosexual therapists often don't fully understand. You shouldn't have to spend your therapy sessions educating your therapist about your identity, defending your existence, or wondering if they're truly affirming or just "tolerant."

This is a space where you can just be yourself. No explanations needed. No tip-toeing around who you are. No wondering if it's safe to talk about your partner, your gender, or your experiences navigating a world that doesn't always accept you.

As a queer-identifying therapist (she/they), I understand what it's like to move through the world as an queer person. I know the unique stressors, the family dynamics, the coming out experiences, the grief of living in a society that marginalizes us. You don't have to perform or protect me from the reality of your life here.

what lgbtq+ affirming therapy looks like

Truly affirming therapy goes beyond rainbow flags and saying "I support the LGBTQ+ community." It means:

  • Understanding intersectionality - How your various identities (race, class, disability, religion, etc.) interact with your queer identity

  • Staying educated - I keep up with LGBTQ+ issues, terminology, and community experiences without expecting you to teach me

  • Challenging heteronormativity and cisnormativity - We don't assume relationships, gender roles, or life paths based on outdated norms

  • Centering your experience - Your identity isn't pathologized or treated as something to "work through"

  • Creating safety - You can talk about all aspects of your identity, relationships, and experiences without judgment

my values & approach

I am anti-oppressive, feminist, sex-positive, and believe in health at every size. These aren't just buzzwords—they inform every aspect of how I practice therapy.

I won't try to change you, convince you to come out before you're ready, or push you toward any particular identity or expression. Your autonomy, safety, and self-determination come first. My job is to support you in figuring out what feels right for you and living authentically on your own terms.

why lgbtq+ folks choose therapy with mack

"I don't have to explain myself."
You can use whatever language feels right for your identity, relationships, and experiences without worrying I won't understand.

"I can talk about the hard stuff."
The political climate, family rejection, dating challenges, community dynamics—nothing is off limits here.

"I feel seen as a whole person."
Your identity is important, but you're also navigating work stress, friendships, mental health, and everything else. We address all of it.

"It's a relief to not worry about judgment."
Whether you're exploring kink, navigating non-monogamy, questioning your identity for the third time, or just need to vent about heteronormativity—you're safe here.

creating safety in an unsafe world

Right now, queer people—especially trans and gender diverse folks—are under attack. Anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, book bans, attacks on gender-affirming care, and increasing hostility are taking a real toll on our community's mental health.

It is my passion and honor to provide a space where you can just exist. To breathe. To be celebrated instead of merely tolerated. To process the grief, rage, and exhaustion of living through this moment. To find moments of joy and community even in hard times.

You deserve a therapist who will validate the reality of what you're experiencing, who won't gaslight you about discrimination, and who understands why "just ignore the haters" isn't helpful advice.

frequently asked questions

Are you part of the LGBTQ+ community?
Yes! I'm a queer-identifying therapist who uses she/they pronouns. I'm out in my personal and professional life.

Do I have to be "out" to work with you?
Absolutely not. Many of my clients are closeted or selectively out. Your safety and autonomy matter most. I'll never pressure you to come out before you're ready.

Do you provide letters for gender-affirming care?
Yes, I can provide letters for hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgeries once we've established a therapeutic relationship and you feel ready.

What if I'm still figuring out my identity?
Perfect! That's exactly what therapy can help with. You don't need to have everything figured out to start. Exploration is part of the process.

Do you only work with LGBTQIA+ clients?
While LGBTQIA+ affirming care is a specialty of mine, I welcome all clients who are seeking supportive, inclusive therapy. My practice is open to everyone.
